cleaning my head

Having bought a big-valve head, is there anything I should do to it before putting it on a block? Anything need a clean/lube etc??

Also, what have people found to be the best stuff for removing the general gunk, oil etc??

Many thanks,
Mark

It would make sense to lap all the valves in while u got it of the engine, I steam clean engines to remove crap, but lots of people just throw the bits in cleaning tanks full of paraffin or some other suitable gloop. When u are reassembling it use the oil u intend to put in the engine to lube all the bits as u throw it together.
Shug.
