standard sierra steering wheel
sting - 3/4/06 at 08:39 PM

hi guys
i`m worried about using the standard sierra wheel as i really struggle to get in and out with it in place due to getting my knees under it.
I have got omp race wheel and quick release mechanism, but i would imagine this will fail SVA?
any thoughts guys?
thanks

You'd be better off struggling through SVA with the standard Sierra wheel. If it really is that bad, could you not use a Sierra adjustable column to give you a bit more clearance

Put up with the sierra wheel, I had the same problem, 6ft 4in and very tight with the sierra wheel but it's only for SVA so just change it as soon as you can after

Or just take your shniy small one with you. Drive round the corner so you're not totally taking the wee and swap over. Been known to work for the odd mot emissions test with certain things.....

ok looks like i`ll put up with the big bus steering wheel. Hope they don`t fail me on looking a prat trying to get in and out. Like your thinking but can`t take the small one with me as you need to weld on the quick release adapter.

So? Just take one with you. They let you do little things during the test. Just ask him to turn his back for 10 mins after and away you go!

The big laugh was watching the 6' 4" SVA tester struggling to get in my car - I found it tight with the Sierra wheel, and I'm just 6' !

When mine was tested the tester found getting in was a tight fit but said "It'll be better when the proper wheel is on" and after giving me the MAC said "you can go into the car park and fit the proper wheel ."
