Hi Guys,

I've heard from Chris this morning, and he's said it's OK for us to display the Single Seater chassis at the The Great Western Kit & Car Builder Show on the 23rd & 24th October.

We're on stand M77, so, I'd best get my finger out and finish it off ready for the powdercoaters

Kind regards

John.

just noticed amazon has release date as April 15th 2011. Do we know if this is set in stone? Really looking forward to reading this.

I do hope so - its the first time I've ever pre-ordered something so far in advance........the suspense is killing me!

Eeek - suspect that is just a 'holding statement' and the real shipment date will be a bit different. Real shame as I wanted it for last Christmas, then my birthday, then this Christmas

Hope Chris manages to get it finished soon.

is this book still coming out in April - seems to have gone rather quiet??
Having spent the weekend playing with my neighbour's 1960's cooper/BRM Junior Forumla1 car, my appetite has been whetted...

This may turn out to be the longest running thread ...........

Been on the Haynes web site and seen this from someone who's got it on order on Amazon.

"Chris Gibbs "Build Your Own Single-Seater: On a Budget"
***Previous estimated arrival date: February 22 2012 - February 23 2012
***New estimated arrival date: January 07 2012"

This may be an ignorant question but why is it taking so damned long?!! There were part-built photos earlier in this thread. Surely can't have been that much more to do if you're building cars for a living? Wouldn't it be in their (the manufactures) interest to get it done ASAP and make kits/the book available?

Like I say these may be ignorant questions and invite anyone with better information to shoot me down in flames

Thanks
Dan

Haynes are the publisher.

Chris is the author. From what I've read previously Chris hasn't been well & hasn't finished the book.

I'm sure the people who've made the moulds or chassis would love the book published so they can make many more ..... but like everyone else, we're waiting on Chris to get better.

(and on the grand scheme of things, Chris getting better is far more important than any book)

No flames here. But just to let you know there is no 'manufacturers' its just Chris (as far as I know). He is not into making cars full time, he has built a couple of cars and jsut so happens to write a book about them. And from what I hear he has had (still has?) health issues.
There is a Haynes Forum and looks like he's not been active on there for several months.
And the initial delay was aparantly caused by Haynes having limited time slots when they publish and I think Chris was way too early in the build to hit the first slot, so it was inevitable the pubclication would go back a long way then.

I seem to remember late (ish) last year the chassis was going to be available for viewing at a car show, the question is, is the chassis or bodywork or even better both going to be displayed at any car shows this year?
And if so which show?

Just tried accessing the 3GE website and it says that the domain name is reserved for future use. Anyone got a correct web address for 3GE? or are they completely overhauling their website maybe?

So, if 3GE were making the chassis and have gone bust and Chris is ill (sorry to hear about that btw) does that mean the project is at a dead stand-still? Or worse still, dead altogether?

Thanks
Dan
