Hy everybody!! Big doubt, please help me!!!
Hi people...
My name is Dennis, I'm from Madrid, Spain. The fellow locost owner ALEZ gave me the address to this amazing website. Congratulations all for
such a valuable site!!!
I've owned a '95 BMW M3 till a couple of weeks ago. Now, after selling such a marvellous machine, I'm really thinking of digging
into the "Lotus Seven" world.
Next Saturday I'll be travelling to northern Spain to check out a "Mohr Rush" with a 155 hp Peugeot engine. I believe the car is in
mint condition, very well built, very well maintained and very very fun to drive!!
Does anyone have an opinion about the Mohr replicas???? Anyone own one???? Do you think it may be a good option????
Thousand thanks to all for your help!!!
Cheers.

A german marque with links to dax's beginnings at a quick glance.

I believe that it was the predecessor to the Dax rush, from a german based company

Exactly, so far that's the info I've been able to gather myself as well.
There's an owners page which also hase some interesting information:
http://rush.smolly.nl/
It's a quite rare replica, which is why I'm very interested in finding all the possible info on it...
Thanks in advance!!!
Cheers.

Ive heard of this replica a few years back and they are an original version of the Dax rush with german modifications to pass TUV approval.
IMHO because the germans take a pride in the building of cars I would think it would be very good. Its a good deal bigger than the original seven as
it can take a really tall engine.
I would say look at it and take Alex as he knows what these things look like to give you pointers.
Check if its registered correctly as your part of the world is a bit sticky on registrations as Alez has found out.
Take a camera and take pictures to post up here
Cheers Pat
ps email the owners of the the website for mhore info

Actually, Alex is friend of the owners'... The owner has been into kitcar building for some time, and currently is building a Cobra which he
will use in uphill racing. I've also had good references of this person from other people so I'm pretty confident on this car.
Anyway, I'll check every possible detail and will take pictures in order to have you guys give me your point of view.
These are some pictures of the car which were taken at a trackday some months ago:
The car is properly licensed in Spain, so I shouldn't have any trouble driving it on the roads.
Cheers.

Looks good to me. From the web address on the back -> http://www.8cilindros.com/index-s.html it seems strange there are some distinct differences
between the car you pictured and the one on that site, though they are very similar. I'd want to understand why they differ before I bought
it.
The only minor problem with it (apart from the broken mirror) is it has the style of roll bar that only protects the driver, which would worry me.
IIRC Dax bought the rights to the original German car. As it can get through the TUV I couldn't imagine it has any major design problems.

Ian, you right on you appreciations.
The fact is the car was imported to Spain by racing driver Zanini, who in the mid 90's started a Gentlemen Drivers Cup with these cars. The
owner of this one bought two of them which never got to race: the one in the pics, and the one in the www.8cilindros.com website. Therefore, both cars
are cousins, with minor differences between them (the car on the website by the way now belongs to a guy from Madrid as well).
Regarding the car in the pics, which is the one I'm interested in, the owner told me there would be no problem in installing the complete roll
bar for both driver and passenger protection. Apart form that, it apparently only needs a couple of "updates". Anyway, I'm going to
see it "live" tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted on my impressions.
Cheers.

It looks good to me - I like the rollbar (it's similar to mine) but then I'm very selfish i.e. passengers weigh too much!
What Peugeot engine does it use?
The wheels are too red I think!

In my opinion, the wheels are also too red... In case I finally purschased it, I guess I would paint them in black.
I believe it has a 1800 cc PSA engine, with 155 hp. The weight, as the owner told me, is a little under 500 kg (IŽll have to check this), which gives
us a power to wieght ratio of around 300 hp/ton...
Cheers.

1800? I can't think what that would be. Unless it's the 18xx which they rounded up to 1900 for badging etc.
Then I wonder if it's 8 or 16 valve (Mi16.)
Finally, I wonder what gearbox it uses. Any idea?
Still think it could be a sound buy - the Peugeot GTi engines love to rev.

Can't answer your questions...
Tomorrow, I'll check all the details, including type of engine, type of gearbox, mileage, etc.

Hey Dennis, sorry I missed your posts.
I can't add much to what's been said already, actually I've just learnt quite a lot about what this car is by reading this
thread.
I saw the car once during the track day when those pics were taken (my brother is in one of them!), January this year. I was busy doing different
things and didn't pay so much attention to the car, but from what I remember the car was in great condition.
I wish you all the best luck in your purchase. I wouldn't expect any nasty surprises with that car in particular, as these guys Javi and Juan
know how to care for their cars and are good people in my opinion.
I await news on your visit to see the car. As you know I'm on a trip to buy a car this weekend myself, so I'll have news for you as
well!
Strange trying to use English to speak to you, SUERTE!
Cheers,
Alex

Something to be aware of if it's an Mi16 engine.
They have a reputation for blowing up if not dry sumped, and in some cases even if they are.

Looks nice,
I believe it's an dax Rush.
It could be the old version Mohr rush but the it must be pimped.
Difference:
- Air-flow left/right
- Looks like the long wheelbase
Check the paperwork before U buy.

Hi again,
Alez, great to see you here...
So, I flew to northern Spain on saturday and saw the car (and met the owners, who are very very nice people). By the way, one of the owners also has
an absolutlely amazing Ultima GTR, which I fell absolutely in love with!!!!!!
The car is in perfectly mint condition. Paint job is new, no scratches, etc. The assembly work is surprisingly good. I had marvellous references on
how these guys build they're cars, and once I saw the car, I definitley understood why. Standing still there are no squicking sounds, everything
is perfectly adjusted, nothing appears to be loose.
We went out for a road test, through nice B roads and some highway as well. The car is lost of fun to drive. The chassis responds to what I expected,
no weird twisting feeling. No squicking sounds either while on the road.
The engine is the well known carburated 8V 1800cc. The engine block is the same for the 1600cc, 1800cc and 2000cc versions, which is great since I can
choose between these options without having to do any paperwork.
The car currently develops around 120hp (they said in first place it was around 150hp... ) and should wieght around 500kg. Therefore, the car is fast
but in no way surprisingly fast (I'm used to my '95 M3). The good thing thought is that finding an A Group 2000cc PSA racing engine with
around 180hp is no too complicated... And that should definitely be more fun!!!!
All in all, the car looks like a good purchase. The only problem is that there is a slight chance of me moving to the USA in 5 or 6 months, which
would definitely stop me from buying such a car... But in case I finally stay in Madrid, there are big chances of me visiting Galicia again to see the
car...
Thank you all for your help!!!!
Cheers.
