Tire : Dot quality grade

Hi friends,
can anybody expain what does tyre "treadwear" means in simple words? I did not understand. Attaced there is a label that was on a tire.

Federal safety requirements won't apply to you in Italy.

The higher the treadwear rating, the harder the tyre compound, and therefore the slower it will wear.

yep. So you're 400 tyre would wear 4x as well as a 100 rated tyre.
