Ignition Module/Amplifiers

Please could someone confirm that the Ignition Module/Amplifier (I presume they're the same thing!) is different on an EFI car than that on a carb' car.

I just want to confirm that I can't use the module that came with my EFI Pinto donor now that I'm running it with carbs.

Thanks,

James

somewhere, may be on here.I,ve seen and read that it is a good common modification to fit the efi/electronic ignition dizzy to pintos when running carbs. It could be classic ford or something like that.Have a root 'round cause it does away with pionts and condenser.

Hi
The dizzy's different too on an efi pinto, it hasn't got mech advance
Easyist way is to get a dizzy coil and amp off a 1.6 ohc sierra, theres only 5 wires and the dizzy got mech advance
Hope this helps
Adrian

Sierra pre 85 2.0L carbed or 1.6L, (not economy) has six wire inductive module with Bosch dizzy and mechanical advance and is easiest IMHO. Pics in my photo archive.

Doh! I thought I was doing it the simple way!

Thanks for the info everyone.

Ned kindly gave me his dizzy and coil from his 2.0 carb' Pinto. So I just assumed if I got the right amp' it would be a straight swap!

Interestingly the dizzy has no vacuum advance and appears identical to the dizzy from my EFI Pinto!
Do I really need one with an advance if the donor didn't have one?

Thanks,

James

No, no black box on dizzy.

Bob's going to sell me an amp' tho. It's just a connector for it I need now.

Does the amp' need to be specifically off a 2.0 litre? Or are they all the same?
As you can tell I don't really know what they are for!

Cheers,

James
