washing a black car
ok anyone with a black car will understand this
when i wash my car i pressure wash off the crap then use 2 buckets to wash the car. clean soapy water and then rince in the other bucket then soapy
water on the car again as it stops dirt clinging to your wash mit.
anyway i left my car at home yesterday and used dads 4x4 to go to work, came home to find nigel next door has cleaned all the snow off my car and
washed it for me with a bucket and a brush....arghghgh
anyway its covered in swirls now, like spiders webs.
what do i need to buy to fix this.

Think you need to make plans for Nigel
He has probably put fine scratches in the clearcoat.Try some scratch restoring compound on the swirls and see if that removes them.

Swizzol is what ya need. And a bit of target practice with the neighbour!
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

my wife had a met black astra and she used a tcut/polish made turtlle wax its in a green tub and it made the car look spot on

Would never dream of washing someone elses pride and joy, maybe it's because I am so anal about our black type r. I let the local Polish boys
wash it once, covered it in scratches from there wash mits, took ages to get out

had a black car for years and always used

then i used the only polish i have tryed that works 100% on black cars can remember the name of it but if you want to know pm me and i will take a
look i have 15 polishes i just keep tring evry one i find .

If you need an off the shelf solution, then Autoglym Super resin polish is good.
It has a very mild abrasive which will only take the edges off the swirls, but it also has lots of "fillers" in it which will cover the
remainder. For an even better finish use a good wax or sealent. The Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection is made to work with the SRP.
Or a good carnuba wax, 50/50 from Chemical Guy's ( www.carwashnwax.co.uk ) is absolutely fantastic.
Imagine what it would be like if there were no hypothetical situations.

Used to have a lovely Black Cupra Leon, great car and looked great in black.....what an arse to keep clean though!
My wash routine consists of rinse with hose (not jetwash). Wash with Autoglym car shampoo, one panel at a time rinsing as you go to. Different
sponge for areas below the rubbing strips, another sponge for wheels. Rinse thouroughly with hose. Dry with real cahois (fake ones fluff anf make a
right mess). Leave car to dry a bit. Polish with Autoglym super resin wax polish with freshly wahsed good quality household dusters

you need to borrow my DA Polishing machine. but you can't, cos your miles away! LOL
i bought a 2000 focus last year as a run around as i sold my TT to fund the kit car, it was a right dog (but paid penuts for it). a LONG weekend with
the DA (dual action) polisher and a whole range of other products and its now in very good condtion! you can pick them up for ~£100, worth it when you
think i paid about £500 less than book for the focus & about £1500 less than book for the TT (same reason, swirly, dull paint). infact, i got a
pic, went from this dull, grey & swirly:
to this bright silver, smooth as silk and lovely & reflective:

Read this thread on detailing world if you want to see an improvement in an old banger of a car. Must have doubled or maybe even trebled the value
just by cleaning it properly and fixing some rust.

I want to know how you got your missus to polish the car. Mine doesn't know how to wash hers let alone polish it!!!
