Witch Rear Disk's with Golf 4 Caliper
Hi,
I have do some search but nothing is really clear.
I have a Golf 4 'Audi A3 caliper and it fits the rear bearing holder of the Sierra Disk version.
I have put all together in a model 3D and when I use the standard Sierra disk 10,2 mm solid with a diameter of 253 mm I see that the caliper piston is
halve the out of the disk.
The questions are:
- Witch disk you guys use for this setup?
- Do you need to change anything else?

The sierra RS500 had 273mm discs, which is what i've used to mate up with the rally design rear wilwood kit...

Hi,
The person on the link looks like it has a different problem.
Let me show my setup from a Golf Mk4
As you can see the steel bracket is different so the offset is not a problem but more the diameter of the disk.
I think that the 35 mm disk will fit.
Wilwood would be a totally different story but it can help if the disk diameter is the only difference and maintain the 35 mm wide.

Try brakesint.co.uk.
It lists (as far as I can tell) all the different brake discs available for a sierra, with the relevant dimensions, i.e. diameter.

I used those calipers, but mine was a custom upright. What format is the caliper model? and would you mind sharing it?

I think that the best option for this setup would be the disk from a Sierra Cosworth 86-90 2.0L
The disk has a diameter of 273 mm Height of 33 and a thickness of 10 mm
These information has been take from EBC site.
I think that "Cloudy" refers to these disk!

Do you ask for this type the VW/Audi A3?
Bathroom scale say under the 1.8 Kg, [not accurate measurement] but tomorrow I can check with an electronic scale.
This weight includes the bracket too.

I have weighed the Golf Mk4 caliper setup with a electronic scale to be more accurate.
At the other hand I have found the Sierra rear LARGE disk information and dimensions of the above mentioned 273 mm OD disk.
The dimensions are:
OD = 272.5 mm
Total Height = 33 mm
ID = 154.5 mm
Centering hole = 63.6 mm
Thickness = 10.3 mm
Thickness at the flange = 7 mm
4x Holes at PCD = 108 mm

I doubt the 272.5 discs are large enough. Looking at your model I'd say you need more than 20 mm on the diameter of the disc in order to get it
completely covered by the brake pad.
If you'd like to try; I've got the Cossie rear discs on my car, and it is currently taken apart. I'm not too far away from you
(other side of Rotterdam), so you're welcome to try.

Hi Marcel,
Yes 20 mm is not so much, but my design was under construction, so I did a check all the dimensions and found that the piston was not at the right
position.
So I have changed the model to suit and update with handbrake brackets and bleed hole and now looks lots better with a disk of 273 mm.
I am glad with your offer to check the disks, in fact I can take my parts and visit you to have a fast check, I will check also the pads contact
surface in relation to the piston.
I think the Golf ones will be better looking from the support side [Golf caliper]

Can anyone tell me what thread the caliper carrier bolts are on the Mk4 Golf? I've tried M10 in them to no avail, so what size are they? Thanks
