2004-06 to 2008 R1 engine compatibility?

Hi, I have a question:
Our 2005 R1 engine is dead. We need to get a new one now. We received a silly good offer for a 2008 engine.
Are the two engines compatible do you think?
1. Engine mounts
2. exhaust
3. If I were to use the injectors from the existing 2005 engine on the 2008 block would that work?
4. If 3 is OK, would the electrics of the 2005 work?

I only think about it as the price is so good for an egine with 1000 miles...
Or is it a silly thought and risky?
Anyone with lots of experience on Yamahas maybe?
Thanks!
Gergely

as far as I know the bottom end is the same as is the barrel, but the head, pistons, tb's are different. The ecu is different, similar wiring but you have electric TB inlets now.

Also the 2007/8 is 16v where the 04-06 is 20v

the mounts and exhaust are the same. but the tbs and the injectors are different. the inkectors have the same electrical connectors but are longer on the 08.

the 05 throttle bodies dont quite fit on the 08 as the throttle linkage doenst clear the rocker cover but can be made to fit ( I put some spacer plates in) the 08 head has bolt on mounts for the tbs rather than the rubber boots on the 05.

It is certainly possible to swap them but if your using the stock ecu then the wiring loom will have to match the engine as the ecu is different. (unless you transfer the 05 tbs to the 08 as the rest of the sensors look the same)
