Smiths/Revotec Speedo Wiring

Afternoon,

I have my SVA next Tuesday. Only started the engine for the first time this tuesday.

One remoaning issue, is that the speedo doesn't work.

I have a hall effect sensor, three wires, (brown, black and blue) (Revotec PN SS34-1)(PN on sensor is XS1-N08PA349)

The spec shee for this says that it is a PNP Inductive proximity sensor, diagram attached.

How do I connect this to the Speedo? Any ideas?

Link to sensor datasheet:

Link to Speedo QA on Smiths sheet:

Will try to get hold of supplier, but being short of time, I thought I would ask. Someone must have done it?

Cheers

Not done one of these but looks stright forward
+............ 12Vdc Brown

-............. 0Vdc ( Earth) Black

Output from sensor ( blue ) to Red/ Blue on tacho
This should "ground" the red/ blue in the same way as it would if connected between distributor & coil

You need a target for sensor that will mimic the number of pulses for you engine
ie 4 cyl = 2 pulses per rev

Hope this helps

RD
