HandiRack actually works

here's something missy got me last weekend for the car and I've been well chuffed with it despite my initial skepticism that it was going to be cheap rubbish that would –

1) dent my roof

2) fly off along with the two house doors I needed to transport

Prob is the Bluebird for some mind boggling reason was not designed for a roof rack and so far current attempts to fit one have been less than satisfactory. Missy spotted this blow up thing in Aldi and brought it home for me to try.

Well it turned out to be very well made out off heavy canvas and even the pump worked super fast. As the tubes are so thick and there's 4 of them, there is no risk of denting the roof plus they're also fitted with plenty of D rings and 2 tie down straps. Great thing is as their not vehicle specific you can use them on whatever your happen to be driving

Like I said, we took two heavy wooden doors back on it and not a mark on the roof or problem. Hopefully this will help if you need to take some kit parts home

Ah I've been looking for something I can easily fit and remove for my 205 to carry my wakeboard and wakeskate up to Sheffield and Notts. At the minute I can only take the skate and it ends up soaking the back seats!

Do you mind me asking how much it was?

Looks handy, but even though it won't dent your roof I'd be surprised if it doesn't scratch the paintwork over time.

You can get 'em direct from the maker... HandiRack

Looks like about £55 from there and about £40-£50 elsewhere via Google.

Aldi are probably cheaper though.

But the obvious locost solution is two old car inner tubes, a pair of fat-person leggings and a bike pump.

Actually look pretty good, I may try and track down a set.

That looks really useful.

No good for cars with curtain airbags though!

£30 something (I'll check) in Aldi at the moment. Genuine Handi-rack not there own version. If anybody wants one and can't get to an Aldi then let me know. I'll get you one and take it to Stoneliegh; Got an Aldi next door to work.

Edit...Just checked £39.99

think mine was about £40 as missy bought it. I was going to fit sticky back felt to mine, to prevent the paintwork getting scuffed but it doesn't seem to move at all in use
