Well its here...

Very Very pleased with it.

Ive spent every night over the last week or so diagnosing why the engine wont start, and finally got it running sweet lst night.

I replaced the Fuel Pump, hoses, HT Leads, and it still wasnt running properly, until i found that it had water in the fuel. So, after draining 25 pints or so from the tank until it was clear, i reconnected the hose to the fuel rail, and hey presto! Reversed it up the drive and drove it forward. Feels very lively, but the MOT will tell.

I spoke to "Art" at Mullen Motor Co last week on the phone in america, and had a very interesting conversation. He said that the AGT was a rip off from the mullen M11, but it does seem that i may have the original prototype for the ripoff! Ill need to get in touch with the original builder. Ive got his details.

So next jobs on the list are:

Repair front clamshell mount
New Wheels and tyres
Tidy Up and clean in and out
Clean up suspension (Surface rust on threads)
Rub down and prime
Take to MOT station the long way round, to get the surface rust off of the brakes!

I will update with some more once i have any more to tell, and will upload some pictures.

All in all, good progress this week. Thanks to my next door neighbour for the help!.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Changed the exhaust mounts today, emptied the rest of the fuel from the tank (same problem with new fuel though), Cleaned interior, jetwashed loose paint off, replaced steering column cowling.

Gutted!!

So s spend all morning servicing the engine, and getting oil everywhere, when i finally get it finished for the 13:00 MOT appointment.

So, with some new fuel, i turned the key. Fuel pump whirrs into life, then turn again and..... nothing.

After a bit of poking around, i find a connector had come off of the starter. So, i put it back oand success, it doesnt sound any quieter, but i have the sound knowledge that the new oil is now lubricating the engine, not filing it down from the inside.

So i go indoors, do a bit more work, and then at 12:30 i jump in the car for the MOT. I pull out of the road, and there must be some more water in the fuel, so i rev it out of the system, and pull away.

I get 3/4 mile down the road and Clonk, "ooh, what was that? - Oh, i need to put some more fuel in so ill go back and put it in before i go any further".

So i turn around at the next roundabout, and the engine cuts out, and clonk, clonk, clonk and no drive. Gears, - seem to be, engine, running again, what????

Turns out its either the drive shaft has come out of the rear hub, or its broken!

Luck has it, that my next door neighbour drives past, takes my keys and gets my car to tow me back! Result.

So, back to the drawing board, and solve the next problem.....

Richard.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it seems like you're rushing things. Take your time to make sure it's really sorted before heading out on the road. It's a new car (to you) so there's all sorts of things that need to be checked out first.

Ive spent ages checking everything, and im not rushing.

With the best will in the world, you wouldnt know that the CV joint was going to fail.

I have some deadlines that i want to meet, so thats the reason for spending so much time on it. Probably the same amount of time as i would if it was spread over a longer period.

Its been a while since the last post, so ill update.....

As some of you have seen, the car is MOT'd and going well (Albeit with a coolant leak).

So i plan to fix the coolant leak following a debate at the last SG7 meeting, and get the engine reliable so that i have the option of driving it to work (London Euston) at least!

Ive bought a 1.8 (130ps) Zetec which i get next weekend (Thanks to Andy B) so ill experiment with that over the winter, and mate it to another UN1 that i hope to get in the next couple of weeks.

I'll be playing with the exhaust as well at some point, to see if i can make it any more offensive to the neighbours, and squeeze any more from the crappy french nackered engine! This will mean a custom header at least.

Mechanically, it seems fine now after the CV replacement, Fuel problems and overheating, so soon will be the start of the prep-for-paint!!!
Theres some work to do, as well as look at the possibilities of re-shaping the roof and lowering the seats though im 90% sure they are already sitting on the floorpan already.

Ive filled in most of the white spots with some black spray paint to make the car less appealing to "Old Bill", and im on the lookout for some wheels.

Anyway, enough ramblings from me.

Richard.

Yes, i think it should take the 5L of silver cellulose that i already have in my garage from a previous project - In true Locost style!!

That with Black wheels, would be quite nice i think. The general concensus on Sunday was positive though Matt black was also bought up as a serious option...

OMG not Mondeo silver , i thought you would want something quite Unique for a Unique car like that ,or even blend another colour in with that silver.

I think youre right Mike, and ive been considering a slightly off colour tint - like a yellowy champagne colour - or even a dark tint to make it a gunmetal silver.

Not sure until i get there what colour it will be, as i need to mix a few samples and make some swatches up.

When you do finaly do the colour make sure that you have plenty spare, as you will never be able to match it, i have made up some metallic colours in the past and its fun too getting an individual colour and always had plenty spare.

That Champagne colour sounds a good choice , i think the the Vauxhall Tigra had a colour near that as a friend had one a while ago and the colour was always a talking point.

Can't help thinking this car would look stunning with a Carbon Fibre effect Vinyl Wrap.

Uniques Car, it would look totally authentic finished in CF Vinyl

Check out the video and gallery here for examples. I have no affiliation with these people and I haven't used them the site is just for reference

You know what, thats not such a bad idea.

Quite pricey though at "start Around £1500" for a medium sized family car.

What about this;

Ive got mixed feelings on this....
