Spires, xtr etc

Hi all.

After falling in love with Wheezys car I have been looking round at other similar models.

The spire I believe started life as an MK (what was that called) and there is the westie XTR but what other makes / models are there that look the same?

I never, ever see them advertised for sale. Are they like hens teeth and therefore more expensive?

The spire started as the MK GT1 & GT2

There is/was a car called the wolverine which is a re-bodied version of the sylva r1ot - probably better dynamically than the Spire (more than certain it'll be smaller and lighter) but it's not as pretty either.

The Spire was a development from the original MK GT1 (like mine).

The GT1 is probably the least expensive. You do see them very occasionally for sale starting at a little under £10k.

Not sure about the quality of some of those though as I have spent about twice that on building mine.

Other options are as you say, Westfield XTR but getting a bit more expensive.

Then you are into the race car types such as the Radical, but you are then looking at serious money!!

There were others such as the Dominator, but an unfortunate build on "kit car crisis" seems to have done for them.

All of the above are mid engine, but other options are fully bodies 7 types such as the WLR.

Is it that easy?

I've had a look at their site and it looks like you just need an extended floor, some supports out the front and a new dash & lights.

Do they do a hard top?

Mike
