OT: Wickes Energy Saving Lamps

Very off topic and not on another website but a bargain elsewhere for certain!

Was in Wickes today and they are selling 5no. energy saving lamps (ES or BC) for ~£2.50. You can buy up to 10no. at a time.

Think they normally sell at £1.50 each!!

Sorry if the above prices aren't spot on. Was rushing past 2 minutes before closing.

Lots of places flogging LE lamps cheap at the moment - Robert Dyas had them for 50p each or there abouts last time I passed thorugh. IMO though you have to check the brand and ratings carefully as some of these bargain lamps are not the best in terms of performance.

I've found Philips and GE branded lamps to be better than most.

Morrisons (Bude anyway), 50p for 5 lamps.

The death of the filament bulb and it's gentle paint drying heat and warm glow.

IKea do a clip on 240v lamp, granted its plastic, takes a 11w LE bulb.

lamp @ £2.50

x2 Bulbs @ £1.99

You couldnt hang your hat on them, but they are now on my shelf above my toolboxes in the garage, an area Im sick of not being able to see into...
