MK Indy / Locost
Hi
im trying to decide what to build. i have a 2.0pinto sierra.
what are the differences between MK indy and locost cars? aswell as pros and cons

locost you make the chassis and other bits so takes longer the mk comes already done just fit together
I could say do a mk they are the best but im going to say that it's up to you but beware of cheap poor quality kits or kit

cool,
i intend to build my own chasisand have locost book. although the indy's from photo's ive seen have a taller narrower front than the
locost which i like. just wondered if many people were altering them at all for aesthetics??

I'm doing an MK with 2.0 pinto.
I prefer the sort of "snout down" look of other cars but then I can always change the nose later.
It seems from here that MK are chaning the body work now, which sounds good as the fit of the side pannels is pretty poor. The odd thing is that back
pannel was the easiest bit to fit, which others say is the worst bit. They don't do ally side pannels or inner pannels but you do get a very
easy to fit floor pan.
There is almost no self centre too, but thats because the car is supposed to be more track focused (not much use for the IVA though).
In the end its down to personal preference. I 'm not sure if I'd go MK again. With Caterham now advertising a starter kit for 5.5 grand
which seems to have quite a decent array of bits in it, I'd think about this as a starting point, but then I havn't talked to other
suppliers for their kit.
The GBS Zero kit looks quite nice, even if some of the parts are not quite as good as they first seem.

Luke, if you have a Sierra donor and you want to make your own chassis you'd be best off building a Haynes Roadster IMHO
It's along the same lines as the original Locost as in you build it to a book, but it's based on a single Sierra donor rather than the
rocking-horse poo Escort Mk2. The book is available from Haynes publishing (or me, I have a copy for much cheapness) 
Builders of the Roadster have their own forum here the author of the book also hangs about on the
forum and is willing to answer any question no matter how daft (in fact the dafter the better)

Yes the haynes roadster was designed by chris gibbs and martin keenan who also made the 1st one martin keenan started mk engineering which made the mk
indy who then sold it to phill keenan and barry lunn aka mk sportscars

Just be aware that the Haynes Roadster is wider and longer than the MK and book chassis, and way bigger than the C'hams. Depends how fat you are
I suppose.
