Ebay strangeness (? scam)
Usual stories of strange behaviour
1) Was trying to bid on a RT500 programmable room thermostat (oh yeh!!) which you can do a Buy-it-now for £25 including postage from a couple of Ebay
vendors. There was an auction going for the same thing but someone had bought two when they needed one so they were offloading the un-needed one. Box
was opened but otherwise all present and correct. Went for £26. WTF!!
2) Bought some memory for my Dell laptop on the bay. PC2700 DDR1 200pin SODIMM. Ordered it from the states, doesn't work. I've e-mailed
the company who say it's because my computer is "picky" and the memory I need is more expensive because it's "a little
bit different". Can't help but feel that it's a bait and switch scam. But other than accepting their offer of a refund what can I
do? I've e-mailed asking in what way is the other stuff "different"- doubt I'll get an answer. I reckon they assume if people
don't fall for the switch they just pay out the refund (not like they've spent much on postage and you have to return the chip), if you
fall for it you've paid over the odds. Okay they only want a further $12 to send me what they should have sent me in the first place but
there's a principal right?!?!?

as you say some funny final sale prices exist i was looking at 2nd hand mobile phones and they seem to be fetching £600!
as for computer stuff as i know nowt about them i always get my stuff/upgrade parts from a local independent computer shop may be up to 25% more
expensive but work or if not he will sort it for me, im of the opinion might save a little but if useless costs a lot.
as for over bidding i try not to get into must have it attitude that all auctions rely on as what ever it is there will always be another one on there

i know some computers are very very specific on what memory they can accept. sounds fair to me, and they have said they'll refund you.
