Got Hit By another driver

Morning All,

well, what a night i had last night, was driving the lady friend home last night, literally 2 miles away, when i went through a GREEN light to the get side swiped by an oncoming driver turning across the road, luckily for me i was in the tintop and not the kit!

police turned up & ambulences within minutes of my 999 call, so fair play to the emergency services!

spent 5 hours in A&E with a suspected fractured shoulder & collar bone. turns out its heavy bruising and whiplast to my neck! feeling very stiff this morning, luckily the other driver and her children in the car were ok.

now the phone calls start,

Alex

bummer

just phone up their insurance company and ask for the cars details, explain its for filling out a claim form

Make sure you don't down play your injuries

Sorry to hear that.
But be fully prepaired for the inevitable 'I went through on green, you jumped the red light' story. It WILL come.

glad youre okay Alex, how was your friend? and the car?

the "market value" of my car is currently being evaluated since I wrote it off on Saturday . At least insurance companies seem to be fairly well oiled machines.

Craig: I didn't know you wrote your car off?

Steve: she's more of a friend thats a girl than a girl friend at the moment.

Thats terrible Alex - hope you and your lady friend are both ok really soon.

Before speaking to any insurance companies though, i'd speak to the police. You will surely need to just to get her details etc, but they should also be able to tell you about any witnesses, if she's admitted fault etc. Worth the call and see what they'll divulge to you surely?

If you were both going through on green in opposite directions and she turned right into you there is no question of blame. Good that no-one was seriously hurt but it's a pain yo can do without.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

your witness (lady friend) will have more 'weight' than the other drivers children.

you should be ok - hope the pain killers are working, i've seen the bruise that sort of thing leaves.

well i have just reported it to my insurance company and they were really helpful, they even managed to confirm that she was insured and here insurance details were valid.

just got to wait now for the liability dept to do their bit and then i should have a settlement threw.

i have 3 witnesses on my side so i don't think she can try and defend the fact that she was responsible for the accident!

well its time for a shower, this should be interesting!

I LOST against someone who jumped a red light.
Since 2005 I've had a T-eye ADR 3000 camera in my car.
So far it saved me £80 + 3 points for me going through a jammed Red light and police stop.
4 weeks ago I got side swiped while stationary in traffic. Woman now denying it.
Here is my thread

They WILL try and deny its their fault.
I was in my living room when my car was hit whilst it was parked outside. Luckily it was a neighbour, she admitted it was her fault.
Yet as soon as the insurers got involved they needed to find out who was to blame!

So be prepaired to call on your witnesses.

At least you are now shot of that shopping trolley of a car!

I hope you are ok - you wait until the whiplash kicks in proper! So the Leon FR might be sooner rather than alter then?

Glad you are Ok m8. Get well soon.

I remember when i had my accident,

A bloody woman on a Silver Vauxhal Vectra run on the back of me.

My whiplash was so bad after 2 days that when i had to stand up from bed, i used to grab my head from my hair to pull it up in order not to hurt.

That kept going for nearly 4 weeks before i could tolerate the pain when i used to wake up. the whiplash though lasted for 8 months and i still hurts occasionaly.

it was quite funny watching my hand and arm swell up in the A&E waiting room, lol, but at least a lot of the swelling has subsided for now!

Alex,

were you involved in an accident before?
If you never had an accident, then I know plenty of tips that the insurance will try to screw you on.
