Rover metro 1.1
Hi guys,
I've been given a metro about 3 months ago and it just sit on the drive not doing anything. And i've been after a donor car for a while so
i thought why not use the metro. Can this be done ? If so parts would i need from the car and what chassis will i need to use

You can adapt virtually any engine (of a certain size) to any chassis...
It really depends on so many more options, and I would suggest that bdget is probably the biggest governing factor...

Where abouts do you work in crewe steve ? I work in the eye sore that is rail house lol
What you building at the moment yourself ... need any help with building. This is my first project and i've never done anything like this
before.

Buy a GTM kit, they're metro based I believe!

Thanks for the info .. ill have to have a look into it. But i didnt want to go down kit form as i want to build the whole thing myself to keep the
cost down ....

Using a metro will not keep the cost down lol. You will need to source an engine and gearbox (or bellhousing if you intend on using the 1100). You
will also need a diff, prop, hubs etc.
Would be cheaper and quicker in the long run to get a sierra if cost is a major factor for you.

Out with the 1.1, in with a 1.8vvc and a few mods, and you will have a seriously quick car which will dish out a few surprises. I would do one for
myself if I wasn't so busy with other stuff.

The bare K series 1.1 block is identical to the 14, 1.6 and 1.8, so any of those can be slipped in at a later date.
Building front engined rwd locost style car the expensive bit would be the bell housing.

As above check out Talon I think they put MGF engines into Metros producing a serious bit of kit - my son had a few laps in one at Donington a few
years ago and was very surprised.
Blitz style buggies use fwd engine inthe back which could be another route or build a trike, Stimpson Scorcher style

I work for LSG, and could only dream of working at rail house!!!
