Speeding Fine
Got stopped by the boys in blue on the 9th Nov...
37 in a 30.. held my hands up took my licence etc in next day.....
got a letter today £90.00 fine..
to be paid by 6th jan but no mention of points...
i was expecting maybe £30 or £45 fine.
will i still get points aswell..

It worth checking whether this is subject to the same time rules as a NIP.

Trouble is the rules typically have a get-out clause the size of Brazil (certainly true of a NIP) which says although they have to produce it within a
fixed period if there's a reason why they didn't produce it within that time frame then it's still valid. IE if they can find
something to blame it on (any old borrocks) it's still game on.

If you surrendered your licence at the cop shop you should get it back with the points on.
Your fine will probably have gone up from £60 to £90 if it wasnt paid within the 21 days

i surrender my licence the day after...
spoke to "arresting" officer about speed awareness and was told it was for dangerous driving only!!!
spoke to "desk" officer and was told it was only available for static cameras!!!!
This letter is the first correspondence i have had from them with regards to fine and is dated the 23rd December.
Should i have paid fine when i handed in licence then??
surely they should have told me!!
I was expecting a letter with a fine 28 days to pay and half price if payed within 14 days, sort of thing

I was told once to always question a speeding fine.
dont take the driver awareness course, cause if you ever get caught again they come down really hard on you.
if they dont mention points though, you probably wont get them, youll pay 90 for the benefit.

If it were me, id rather pay the extra and not have points on my license.
The speed awareness course isnt always an option (not sure why) but when one of our drivers ahd to do one, it cost him £120 so either way, if you get
no points, i wouldnt be complaining!
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

i was stopped by the local constabulary in June, likewise i held my hands up to it as i was definately speeding.... they gave me a yellow form at the
roadside with the details of the "crime" and like you i went in and surrendered my license the following day. I took the same yellow bit
of paper to the local court and paid the fine (£60). got the license back 2 months later with a hand written endorsement on it. 3 points...

I got caught the other day, 55 in a 40 which has attracted a £60 fine and 3 points.
The description said attended camera so I guess a a man at the side the road clocking us all as we romped along the dual carriage way... they had
lowered the limit near the end.
Anyway offer of a fine from Thames Valley police came with a bit of paper attached, basically it said if you were doing less than 7 miles over the
limit you could opt for a fine and driving awareness course with no points, if above a fixed penalty of £60 with 3 points was mandatory.
Couple of exceptions, which I think were, held a licence for less tha 2 years and you got the points, if this pushed you to over 6 points you got the
fine, points and awareness course all together.
I believe it varies between counties.

Isnt it licence under 2yrs - 6 points - ban and retest???

Oh yeah speed kills, doing 31 in a 30 means you've just destroyed the whole planet you evil barsteward!
I got a handwritten one too, felt like they were being right cheeky about it too. I was going to put 120 points on for donkey licking just to take the
Michael but I figured it would only backfire on me and I'd be banned for 30 years for a joke offence.
Hey I'd happily pay for my speeding tickets again, now, to have them wiped off my licence. One they generally don't bother with but 2 in 2
months pushes your insurance up "a bit"

I AM a stupid ba574rd!!
Yes the yellow slip i have has a tear off on the bottom for the £60.00 fine.
I did not read it properly hence my £60 fine became £90 with 14 days to pay...
This story has 2 morals
1: dont get caught speeding!!!
2: read the paperwork properly!!!
expensive lesson learnt.
just waiting to find out whats happened to my licence now.
