Fitting MK exhaust manifold

I have just tried to fit the MK manifold to the engine (05 R1) and it appears to foul one of the diagonal members on the chassis (Indy R chassis). Also it doesnt seem to quite line up with the exhaust ports on the engine. Makes me wonder if they have given me the right one.

Anybody experience a similar problem?

Does anyone have any photos of their MK manifold for an R1 engine that they can post up?

Many thanks.
Tom

When you say it doesn't line up. Do you mean misaligned or that the pipes are perhaps all different lengths therefore some are not quite reaching the engine because this is what was wrong with mine. I forced them an after a bit of running they've held their shape now.

Its a slight lateral misalignment more than lengthwise.

Trying to get one in then the rest...

Mines not the greatest fit either but more in the length than laterally. I'm wondering if i'll need to use some sort of sealant around the ports to ensure it's all gas tight. I've not had any problems with fouling chassis members though. I've got a 2001/2 R1 with an Indy R. I'll try & post a pic over the w/e.

their tight

my manifold was a swine I had this problem fitting a 5 vy in a R chassis. when I asked Mk about the quality of the fit they told me that their would be no issues like their had been in the past.

But their were issues the headers do foul the chassis so gentle force and some heat to reshape the diagonal brace helped. and with a bit of jigery pokery the headers do fit into the ports.

Aye just make it fit. They'll only tell you they outsource them so it's not their fault. I wouldn't deal with them again after I bought my manifold.
