Sierra Stalk Light Switch Wiring Diagram

Hi All,

The destructions I have for my loom are unclear. I'm replacing the Sierra light switch stalk that does dip beam/full beam/light flash with push switches but it is not clear if the stalk switch switches 12 volts or switches earths.

The loom wires are listed as;
Input from light switch, Terminal 56, Brown/Black
Main beam out, Terminal 56a, Brown/Yellow
Dip beam out, Terminal 56b, Brown/White
Lights flash, Terminal 15, Brown.

So, does any one know? Is the input from light switch to Terminal 56 (Brown/Black) a switched earth or a switched positive 12V?

I wired it as a switched +ve, but I just used the switch wiring diagram, and went from there. I don't think it is wired the same as the Sierra originally was...

Hi,

Pin 56 is a switched earth for the headlight relay's.

Pin 15 is also a connection direct to earth and not through the light on/off switch.

Hope this helps

Heres mine, I junked the switch and this is how mines wired..

Red & Grey are the side lights. 12v switched

Brown/black (bottom) is the main beam lead from the relay, brown wire on top just goes to the chassis/earth. Earthed switched.

Only downside is with two switches like this the headlights can be switched on without the sidelights.

easy solution is to wire the feed for the headlights from the output to the sidelights...

No no no, the feed from the main beam is just an earth for relays.. power is at the relay and the switch simply earths and energizes the relay turning the lights on

Excellent! Thanks guys, that did it. I've got them wired; sidelights switched +ve and dip/main switched -ve. As I'm using double gang switches I've used one gang on the side light switch to switch the -ve to the main/dip switches, and the other gang to switch the sidelight +ve.
