Fitting Group 4 Rally Wheels
Right, have got hold of some ridiculously light OZ Racing wheels off a rally car. But they are meant for the longer and bigger studs used in group 4
/ A. They have inserts in them, that take them down to M12 studs, but require longer studs. Can I just change the studs over on my hubs, or can
you use an adapter?
Anyone got any hands on experience with this?

you will most likely need to change to longer studs but also i think the nuts are different too?

The other thing is if they are magnesium you have to really look after them.....

Yeah, they are magnesium. To be honest, if they are made for use on a rally stage, they'll probably hold up on the road
Does anyone know any companies that deal with this stuff? I know the Sierra and Escort Cosworth had Group A / 4 wheels on some models, so people must
have come across the issue before.

They'll certainly be strong enough, the point is they corrode 10x more enthusiastically than aluminium wheels when the paint/lacquer becomes
damaged.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

They'll also be lifed for rally use - i.e. a rally team would use them for a set number of miles/hours/stages and then dispose of them whether
visibly damaged or not, same as tyres.
That might be why they were available to you?

I appreciate the warning about using magnesium wheels and I'll take that onboard, but I think its all a little melodramatic Also I was
asking about fixing to a Sierra hub

you can buy a wheel nut that allows group 4 fitting wheels to be fitted to a standard hub. I think i bought the last ones (long time ago) from rally
design.
UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

have a look at www.gartrac.com for their group 4 hubs and axles. they're very different to normal axles.
aren't your current studs m12 thread? if so, just getting longer studs from somewhere like rally design should be fine

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Will this be ok for the IVA, or would they prefer to see longer studs? I like the sound of just using different nuts, but not if the IVA man will
just fail them!
