DHLA Air Filter/Trumpet

I have now bit the bullet and ordered the parts to overhaul my DHLA.

I was going to go with no filter or trumpets, but a search on here showed how bad a idea that would have been.

So now looking at getting trumpets and filter.

Thing is i have measured the gap between edge of carb (where filter bolts on) and edge of body panel which is 50mm

Should i go for 45mm filter and 20mm trumpet or 16mm trumpet to give the 25mm clearance that i have been advised?

Also eurocarb do a chrome plated filter which i could fit and leave an opening on the side of the bonnet but is held together with wing nuts has anyone used one and made it IVA compatable (can they be replaced with standard nuts)

What else have others used?

I had a similar problem. Ended up getting a short inlet manifold, which allowed me enough room for a pipercross filter, and used 16mm trumpets.

Hope this helps.

The combination of manifold and trumpet length will effect torque (longer = more low down torque). I'd chose the length of trumpets you need then get an air filter to suit.
I've also got the pipercross backing plate (you can get blank ones or pre-cut engine specific ones) with a deep 120mm filter to accommodate my ~45mm trumpets.

Sorry should have said its a bog standard 1300 crossflow, so will not be racing around as it will be a road car.

I am also only running a single side draught.
