Brand new Zetec

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ford-zetec-engine-brand-new-2litre-direct-factory-/170466647584?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=i tem27b09a9e20#ht_500wt_956

Has anyone thought about getting a new Zetec from these guys? I don't know whether its a good buy or not. It seems a good offer to me. What do you think?

There's plenty of places that supply new Zetec's at around the same price - Raceline etc.

Does it have an engine number though??

Its a former part of Robin Hood (GBS) word is they are best avoided.

Contact Robin Hood(GBS) direct on the phone and they'll prob sell you one at the same price.

Go down to the local Ford dealer and ask how much... £700 for full new engine or £400 for a short motor.

Location looks like robin hood.

Its possible to find cheeper but often they dont have inlets manifolds or clutch or coil packs etc. Thus is plug and play as it were.

A friend of mine went to Stoneleigh with me and bought a new 2.0L Zetec for £650. He used to work in Vospers and still gets a good discount from the guys he knows there and they reckoned it would cost him closer to £1600 for a new 2.0L and about £600 for a bottom end. That was a few months back, so it's possible they have slashed prices, but the cheap ones on ebay have been around for ages.

Theyve been selling them for ages, they do auctions starting at £590 as well as the B.I.N's.

Good feedback including one mentioning the engine.

I rang ford and they wanted £2k for the same item.

All the robin hood ones have engine numbers but you will get them for less.

Interesting responses guys. Its a lot of money to not get everything they say and it work, but then again there's risks in used engines too.
Where else can I source a new engine from, only came across this whilst having a quick look on Ebay.
I seem to recall there is another firm selling them already in the crate at about a grand.

that is a bargain; I probably paid that for my crossflow head (ok, so I blew it up which bumped the cost).
