What are my options for a Power Commander setup if no experts are in Hungary?

Hi,
I went to a rolling road session with my R1 engine (2005 injection) MNR yesterday. The importer of the Power Commander was there to set up the PCIII USB I have, and the location was a place with a dyno.

The dyno did have a lambda sensor that didn't show any useable numbers at all -the guy said that it is for car engines, not bike engines... complete nonsense I would think... it also didn't have means to record revs...
In short: The car was not set up, and they said my car won't work anyway...

I packed up and came home thinking that I need to look at the option of doing the whole thing myself...

What are my options?
- Find another dyno place with lambda and rev capabilities and use the PC guy again (trouble is chances are slim in Hungary, but might be possible9
- Use a data logger - the PC guy says he has one he can lend to me, so I make lots of logs at different throttle positions and he will create a map for me, then we can do this a couple times until he fine-tunes the engine (don't know how accurate this will be)
- Upgrade to PC5 with Autotune automatic air/fuel ratio setup capability (not sure this would give me the best ratio always)

What do you guys think? What would be the best for me and are there any other options?

I am really disappointed, the car drives pretty well, but the engine feels rough, and I can't take it on track as I don't want to damage the engine...

(It is so easy for you in Britain, you have all the specialised places to set up your cars... I am jealous...)

Thanks for any help,
Gergely

What was the "lambda sensor" he had? What you need to set up the fueling is an AirFuelRatio (AFR) meter. A standard exaust gas anyliser won't really do. Do you have a cat in the exhaust? If so you need to take the readings infront of that.

Doesn't your PC softwear show revs? Mine shows the revs and throttle position.
When I had mine set-up we used those 2 and the AFR gauge and the rolling road readings to set it. Basically playing with the fueling at every combination of revs/throttle untill we got the best results.

I had played with setting it on the road but there's too much going on and, altough I improved it, it would have taken forever to get to where we got on the RR.

Try sending an email to Damian at daytuner http://www.daytuner.co.uk/ tell him what set up you have, he may be able to load a map onto your powercommander box if you post it to him. im pretty sure he will have mapped something similar as mnr use the r1 engine a lot and he is the tuner they use.

Thanks guys, I will check with Daytuners.
I think it was just a plain gas analyser, but to be honest I haven't really looked...
Tanks guys, I will check with Damian, and also see my options here in Hungary with other dyno places first...

I went to a dyno with my 2003 R1 MNR... they used their lambda sensor and revs metering; at the same time I was using my LC-1 + SSI-4, and there were no significant differences.

We just did the 80% - 100% TPS bands, as I would do the rest on the road by myself.
