R1

I have just picked up an R1 5VY 01 y-2??

is this a 2004 model??

any feedback on this model engine would be great!! HP etc...

the only problem I have is that the clocks look like they are from a 2001 model according to the ones for sale on ebay, the clocks do plug into the loom (unless they are all the same plug???

pics etc would be great. I have not heard this engine running, are there any potential week weak areas? should I do a compression test??

is this the stronger or weaker engine/box???

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

ive got an 03 one, what do your clocks look like?
Ive heard different, but ive found these engines pretty bulletproof.
get it running, then start playing.
look in my pics, there should be some engine pics there...

Yep!! they are the same clocks although engine looks different, I need to check this engine before it is fitted, it's going in a buggy and needs alot of fabrication.

anyone know how to get around the immobiliser without the master key??

you can wire it out. Id have to check, but mine just has a loop on the plug for the immobiliser.

The engine code relates to a 2004-2006 engine.
The 2004/5 engines had a alloy/silver sump, but the 2006 had a black sump

The clocks may work, but the 2004 engine's max rpm is 13750 and i'm sure the 2001 was approx 2000 less.

As far as i'm aware there is no way round the immobiliser other than using a usa ecu, i believe there is someone out there offering to crack the ecu for around £3-500

The uk loom will work with the usa ecu (can be found on ebay for £100 or less) but you may need to swap a few pins round on the coil and injector plugs.

Be aware that 2004-06 need some mods (breather) in order to not destroy themselves!!

Search this list.
