Engine/gearbox combo question.
So, as bizarre as this may sound, how tricky would it be to mate a Vauxhall gearbox to a Ford Zetec engine?
Is it even practical or would I be setting myself up for a big headache???
Cheers, Dan.

Why do you want to? Better ratios? Smaller and stronger?
Or just because you have one
The Zetec will mate easily to a Type 9, an MT75 or a Cosworth T5, the vauxhall will need a bellhousing adaptor and lots of fiddling with clutch
plates, covers and thrust bearings.
That said nothing is impossible in engineering terms just more difficult and expensive

I guess I already knew the answer but just wanted it confirming so I could close down that avenue of thought a.s.a.p!
It was just a crazy idea I had, thats all.
Thanks for the input!
Dan.

Ok, so I guess a more logical thing to do would be use a Vauxhall gearbox with a Vauxhall engine but I dont often here of them being used in kit/self
built cars.
Are they just not very good?

There arent many RWD vauxhalls left and there were more ford RWD Transmissions than anything else.
Kindest Regards,

Guess I should have mentioned I am talking about FWD layout, to go in a mid engine layout.
My bad.
