springs, brakes, shocks, TBI's, garage clearout

So, the shed is so full that its difficult to swing the cat, so its time for a clearout.

Collection from Oxford prefered, postage costs listed (Paypal or cash on collection) but I'd prefer people to collect.

Steering rack, standard Ford Escort, swapped out because I wanted a
quick-rack. Recent gaiters but one looks to want to crack.
£10 collected, too big to post. GONE to scutter.

Handbrake, free (postage probably £5). to StrontiumDog

Sierra solid rear disks. Shed rust, and tiny amount of wear.
£5 collection only (not worth posting).

Escort Mk3 front disks. Non vented 240mm O.D. £5
collection only (not worth posting)

zx10r throttle bodies 2004/2005, with secondaries removed. GONE to Beaver34 (actually his buddy)
These are 45.5mm i.d. at the airbox end, and partially
explain the mega power from the zx10r. Bought for my EFI
project, but went with gsxr1000 in the end. spacings 78, 87,
78 (approximately). £50 plus £10 postage

zx10r 2004/2005 adapter to engine, £20 plus £5
postage

zx10r 2004/2005 injectors and fuel rail. Flow
tested. These are showerhead type, and flow about 400 ml/min.
Nice injectors but I couldn't use them, £20 plus
£5 postage.

Honda Civic Coupe 1998 1.6 D16Y7 fuel rail with hose, pressure
regulator and wiring. I bought this because I needed the
injectors. Nicely made. You could maybe re-bore the
billet rail to your own spacing, presently spaced on 84-85mm centres.

Honda CBR600rr secondary fuel rail. I used a CBR1000rr
secondary fuel rail with my Megasquirt install, this one has the
outlets in the wrong place. Complete with injectors and fuel
hose. £10 plus £6 postage

GSXR1000 fuel rail "lego" kit. This is a GSXR1000 fuel rail.
You can remake the aluminium joiners to make whatever fuel
rail spacing you need. £10+£4postage. GONE. To AndyBarbet.

Springs:
125lb/inch 1.9inch i.d. 9.5inch length. matched pair from Faulkners,
failed experiment good as new. £22 plus £6 postage.

275lb/inch 1.9inch i.d. 9inch length. matched pair, chips to powder
coat, but perfectly good. £20 plus £7 postage. Probably gone to Phelphsa

200lb/inch 1.9inch i.d. 8.5inch and 8.75inch length, both clearly
marked as 200lb/inch but different manufacture so not a pair.
I don't see why they shouldn't be fine, but...
£10 plus £7 postage.

Big inlet rubbers, part number, 13881-34E00 (don't search 34E on a work computer especially if you are looking for images). gsxr600 air inlet to carbs. These are truly massive. I.d. of 58.6mm and have the flange thing that
would allow it to fit perfectly though a sheet of aluminium if you are
making your own airbox, or sausage filter. Complete with 4
clamps. must be useful to someone. £10 + £2 postage.

AVO steel adjustable shocks. 12.5inch open (centre to
centre). Steel tubes bored out to 1/2inch (originally 12mm)
not done perfectly, but not a problem. Rings all move and
adjusters move. I got a pair of Protech so these are spare.
£50+£10postage. If you want
springs as well then total postage only £10.

Golf Mk4 brake calipers and carriers, a pair. One from e-bay
one from ASW breakers. Externally grubby, but seem to work.
Aborted rearbrake upgrade, these are undamaged (I realised
they wouldn't fit before hacking at them).. £40 +
£10 postage. These are about 600gramme per side
lighter than the Sierra rear brakes.

Sierra caliper. No leaks, full money back guarantee ;-) Collection only Free.

Lambda probe threaded section for welding into exhaust and bung.
Steel (i.e. not stainless). £2 +
£2 postage.

Dyna2000 ignition unit. DDK3-4. For
GSXR1100w, but should work on other 4 cyl carbed engines assumign the trigger wheel can work right. Allows selection of different ignition timing
modes, and retard inputs and such. Can drive bigger coils
than the stock unit. Complete with loom and crank sensor etc.
£90+£10 postage.

GSXR750 k1 (2001) airbox, no inlet rubbers.
£5+£10 postage

gsxr1100w headers. £40+10postage

GSXR1100wp 1994-1998 inlet rubbers. From airbox to 40mm
carbs. 13881-46E00

Thanks, me and the cat will be very pleased to make some space.

Matt

Going to check the lengths in a minute but the 275lb and 200lb springs could be perfect for me. Currently running 300lb front and 150lb rear and it understeers like a goodun (as you'd expect).

Just out of interest, what rates are you running front and rear?

Adam,

The 275's came with the avo dampers and were from a westfield. The 200's came with the protech shocks that I got. You have first dibs on them.

I've got 175lbs/inch at the front, with a stiff ARB (a bit too stiff). The geometry on a Phoenix uses inboard suspension, so the numbers don't really mean much compared to a standard 7, as the shocks are vertical and the mechanical leverage comes in as the square, so effectively 175 on a phoenix is more on your car.

At the rear I am running 150lbs/inch, which is probably on the soft side. I'm thinking of popping on a westfield ARB to help with body roll whilst retaining the ride comfort.

My application is different to yours, I drive a bit on the road and with passengers and like some comfort, but still want some kind of handling on the track.

For me the 275's are too stiff.

Good to hear that you are getting out there with the air-cooled GSXR. How is the oil surge?

I spent a couple of hours on the car and completely forgot to measure the springs... doh! Will let you know tomorrow.

Cheers for the figures. I was thinking 150lb rears was a bit low as i could feel a lot of body roll at the rear end, i'm pretty sure the rear end on mine is the same as the phoenix? I'm sort of tempted to leave the front as is and just move to 250/275lb rears.

We havent had any oil surge issues as far as i'm aware, although still running the low pressure oil switch and no pressure gauge.

Will U2U you tomorrow after I've checked but i'm pretty sure they're the right length (9" seems familiar!).

Adam,

The RGB folk seem to be using 180lb/inch or 200 on the back of their Fury and Phoenix, some have rear ARB too.
Looking at your photos, the back end design looks very similar to yours (rear upright looks identical).

The problem if you have it too stiff might be getting it off the line.

Just let me know whenever you are ready,

Matt

hello

are the shocks still available? are they ok condition, ie useable, not needing rebuild/leaking etc

interested in them and the wonky donkey springs, wont use them on my build as they are in full view, but at least it will give me an idea of what weight springs I do need.

Fuel rail bits were posted on Tues, handbrake posted on Tues.

Got a phone call from Darin, but I was away with work, will call back this PM.

Andy,

Good to hear it arrived. I included one of the gsxr fuel hose connectors. They are quite useful as you can push the barbed section into an 8mm hose and clip it in. Then you can remove the fuel from the rail nice and easily using the connector (good for when you want to bleed the system or check flowrates, or generally mess around).
