Surely at that price you might as well use Ti. Got to be as light and a lot stronger!

Maybe not as bling!

Carbon fibre 1.7g/cc
Aluminium 2.7g/cc
Titanium 4.5g/cc
Stainless 7.8g/cc

cc is cubic centimeter.

I still think that these are going too far, but not much point in saying they aren't light.

ooooh that makes me want to put on my skin tight lycra jump suit, sperm shaped helmet and go and cycle side by side with my mate down a duel carriageway............................

Carbon bolts, about as much use as titanium bolts, use...........less

I can kind of see the point in a carbon dowel, but with a thread on it!?! Do these people know anything about material properties urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr NO!

^^^^ is what I was thinking. I may be wrong but the thing that makes carbon fibre strong is the mat. The thread on these bolts is much finer than the mat filaments so I do not see any strength advantage - may just as well make them from resin?.

These appeal to the "it's make from CF so it must be good"..... but that is not alwauys the case (recently purchased RaceFace CF bars that are no lighter than my alloy ones ... although they may be stiffer).

I have used aluminium alloy to hold bottle cages to carry 1 l or so of water and not had them break.

Also I have some nylon 6.6 screw, density 1.15 g/cm3 so even lighter than CF (for blocking off the holes in the frame rather than for carrying weight) and was wondering if they could hold a bottle cage with a full water botle.

properties are:
Tensile strength at yield 527 MPa 45 – 95
Elongation at yield 527 % 3 - 30
Elongation at break 527 % 5 – 150
Tensile Modulus 527 MPa 1600 - 3900
Flexural modulus 178 MPa 2000 – 3000

no idea how those number compare to Steel or aluminium alloy though.

Not sure what you mean by Ti bolts being no good - Ti is used for many application that require strength and much lightness. Just the other day I fitted disc brake rotos using Ti bolts ....if you don't hear from me ever again after this weekend you can assume brakes failed.
