SVA application form, HELP!

Gents – Car is now ready for a test but I am stuck on question 16 and 17. Have been in touch with the SVA and they where very helpful, but could not help with the below questions.
My car is a locost build as per book but with a pinto 1.8 and type 9 box.
What are the axles/gross weight as asked in question 16 on the form?

Also what would be the preferred ‘Maximum Power Engine Speed’ value, as requested in question 17?

I am going for either Speke or Shrewsbury test centres, any comments or advice.

Thanks!!

the design weight is just that, what its designed to. Must be more than the real weight, but too much and the might expect better brakes. At least, thats what someone suggested a while ago. Aim for 950 though, as TB says, unless you've built a monster!

surely a pinto top revs must be around the 6.5k mark? maybe less? i think it does want top speed though.

Found this here http://www.crustworld.co.uk/sierra/techspec/87.html:

"1796cc OHC "Pinto" engine. 4 Cylinder in-line. Sequential twin venturi carburettor with automatic choke. Electronic breakerless ignition. Max output - 90PS (DIN) at 5400rpm. Max torque - 140Nm (DIN) at 3500rpm. 0-60mph in 10.9 seconds (not automatic). 27.7mpg on a simulated urban cycle rising to 47.9mpg at a constant 56mph (5-speed transmission) "

i.e. max power engine speed is 5400rpm.

So far as I know they use it to decide which rpm to do the noise test (see SVA manual)

Just to confirm Dave and Joel's post.
The max speed of the vehicle is used to check your tyres are rated high enough.
The max power engine speed for noise test, so if you think you may have a problem with dB limit find the quietest revs and multipy by 1.5 and stick that down. (more relevant to BEC's I guess)
