DVLA are a bunch of idiots (rant)

I bought a second hand car 4 weeks ago, recieved the V5 in my name and the seller recieved comfirmation of transfer of ownership about a week after the sale. The tax runs out at the end of the month and found out today the muppets at the DVLA have sent the renewal to the seller in the sellers name!!!! Me, well Ive got bugger all!!!
At least the seller has kept in contact or I would be none the wiser.
They dont give me much confidence when I start the process of transfering the private reg back to the original owner.
Rant over.

Hmm, I am about to send off a couple of V5's with the boxes ticked for having scrapped the cars. They have only existed as paper for some time, so luckily the V5 has that option. I wonder if they will cope, there probably isn't a button for self-scrapping any more

they get written up weeks before they're sent out, imagine how many have to be sent every month. the letter was probably written up before the car was even sold to you

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Not entirely sure what you're ranting about?

Just use the V5 to tax it, the expiry date is quite clearly shown on the tax disc.

Yeah, you don't need the renewal notice to get the tax; V5 will do it along with MOT and insurance.
