Jaguar xk8

I have a chance to buy an 1999 xk8. It has 10k miles up on it but has two owners and full service history. Any thoughts on the mileage. David

Chains need doing every 70,000, the gearbox will need fresh fluid use the correct stuff or this will fail shortly you can get it cheaply from Peugoet dealers still £70 to change it all.

Front wheel beraings are weak, only £40 each and need a decent press.

Front upper wishbones bang out easily, not expensive make sure the bolt is a tight fit in the ali cross member and look for rust around rear wheel arches.

apart from that good for another 100k, its the same as an xj8 and these keep on going.

I run mine on LPG, 270 miles to 60 litres so works out at ~50mpg in money terms, great cars IMHO, tows the BEC a treat

Regards Mark

If it hasn't had a replacement engine, make sure you get a blow by test done and find out if it has the later chain tensioners fitted.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?
