Race Panic

Probably been posted here before.... its normally the case for the same vid to pop up 12 times! But check this guy out putting his helmet and gloves on during the start of a race, in the rain. Awesome.

Woops - I had a fear of such things and always seemed to be the first strapped in and kitted-up!

The vid also linked to this which I thought was great!

when i was racing at silverstone (stock hatch) 2004 i was taking a comfort break when a fellow racer said shouldn't you be out racing now they were runing 15mins early doh, so rushed around go to the assembly area no cars all on the grid, but was alllowed out, i had to drive around the cars on the grid to get my place nearer the front

i had the best start to a race.
i never liked to be in the assembly area early as i'd end up over thinking it/winding myself up, but that was cutting it fine even for me

Let's hope the MSA don't see it!

I'm a born panicker and will be strapped in ages before I need to be. And in sprints and hillclimbs there are a lot of starts!

Pah! I've been sat on the start line with no helmet, no gloves, harnesses flapping out of the sdie of the car, etc but that's because I get in a terrible state with myself, get very nervous about everthing and forget WTF I'm supposed to be doing. Strangely enough, I've never won anything......

I did do a run at a very wet Llys y Fran Hillclimb wearing rubber over shoes (they're like lorry inner tubes!) over my race boots as I forgot to take them off! I couldn't work out what felt so strange! I won the class with that run though...... :-)
