recommend me a battery charger

hey all,
I don't have a battery charger at the moment and as planning to do some electrolysis over the next couple of days figured I should get one. However, may as well get something I can use for the tintop, kitcar and motorbike as well. So does anyone have any recommendations on what to get and what to avoid? I've heard quite a few complaints about the automatic chargers so not sure if i should avoid them altogether.. thoughts? would maybe like one that has a trickle-charging function for the bike and kitcar.

cheers,

mads

Def would suggest the optimate for bike / car, but no good for electrolysis, you will need a non auto charger, old skool for that.

+1 for Optimate - really keeps my gel battery in good trim after 5 years of use.

For electrolysis you just need a cheap and nasty one - anything that generates a good current really

As others have said, for electrolosis you need an old (20 year old) style charger. I've got one from my dad, but will probalby be using it in a month or two. If you can get it back to me in a month (and i may not be at the pub meet) ........ I'll try and find mine and lend you that.

For electrolysis you just need a nice source of some amps. If all else fails a big old torroidal transformer and some electrical gubbins would suffice (made myself a similar hot wire cutter back in the day).

Optimate for me too but keep your receipt. It took me 3 or 4 to get one that didn't pack up initially but I'd already gone through 3 or 4 lesser ones prior to selecting the Optimate. Just plug it in and it recharges even deeply discharged batteries, it's a good one.
