919 Blade false neutral

After my first dry trackday at the weekend, on 3 occasions i hit a false neutral between 3rd and 4th coming down the box.
Does this mean it is on it's way out?

It COULD mean you have bent selector forks or some other gear damage, however I find this is fairly normal on bike engined cars, especially until you get used to the gearbox. First thing I'd do is check the gear linkage - is it tight and as minimal as possible. Also check the travel and make sure you can get full travel in both directions (i.e. the gearstick isn't being stopped by hitting its surround etc before its reached the end of the travel at the selector fork?

Added to that just make sure you are fairly positive with the gearshifting action - you don't have to be rough with it, but you can't tickle it either....also don't snatch it - an even paced, firm motion is required.

Thanks for the replies, I have also been riding bikes for years.
It is a bit different changing gear with your boot.
I will check the leaver clearence and be more positive with it.

If your getting a false neutral it will only be time before you will be looking for a gearbox..

I would pull it apart now before you do more damage.. New box is expensive, new engine is cheaper.

Ouch!!
sounds expensive.

I will see how it goes on the next trackday.
If it does go bang, they don't look too expensive on Ebay.
