Weird CCTV Problem
Just installed a CCTV system and Ive got a strange problem, the systems been installed on the customers Lan, port forwardings been allowed and the DVR
can be accessed via a mobile phone and the cameras viewed.
Trouble is I cant see the DVR via the Lan, I type the IP of the DVR into the browser addy bar IE or Firefox and it cant find it, the security
settings have been allowed in internet options but still no go. I can ping the DVR and find it .
The machine is Vista and the router is a BT Business Hub, any of you computer whizz kids come across this.
Cheers,
Bob

So you can see it from the interweb but not if you're on the LAN?

might have to put a proxy exception in your browser to bypass internal IPs.
Finally back on the job!

Are you using the external or internal IP when on the LAN? Some routers don't like their external IP being used from within the LAN.

I'm sure you've already checked but is the port being used the standard port 80 or is it a different port, possibly 8080?

Could understand it if an external ip has been allocated it you get a block of ip's to use, I would try and use an internal lan ip and then use
the routers port forwarding feature (if you can) to forward packets to the internal ip so you can access it from the outside.

Using port 8080 using internal IP tried changing ports still no go, think its the router, after many a year found out that anything to do with BT is a
pain in the bum.
Accessing it from outside isnt a problem its accessing it from the Lan
