where is the engine number

Can anyone tell me where to find the engine number on a 2.0 blacktop zetec

If its there its on a flat edge just above the cps, the flange the gearbox mounts to. New and replacment engines may not have one.

what is the nice shiney blanking plate blanking off?

I noticed in your photo archive you tried fitted alternator to passenger side

any reason you changed to drivers side

Its just a breather blank. The donor one only opperates under vacuum so doesnt work at all in a kit unless you have all the Egr bits.

Turbo cars tend to just stick a core plug in it.

They breath fine just through the rocker cover.

When I dropped the engine in I soon noticed that my alt was too big for that side, so either fab a little bracket for the other side and sell my fancy one I made or buy a smaller alt, I decided in true locost style to fab a little bracket.

I also made my blank however I have now vented it off as idle was a bit lumpy with it blocked off.
