Zetec water temperature.
Hi all.
Has anyone ever fitted a lower temperature thermostat in a blacktop zetec?
I have a 92`stat and it does run around that in normal driving but will raise quite quickly in traffic.
I'm afraid I'm not the most technical minded man,I do know the zetec does run hot but it just seems
Hot to me when I see the temp hand close to 100`.
Tbh though I've never had overheating problems and I've just fitted a manual override switch for the fan
so am I best leaving well enough alone than looking for something like an 82` stat (if it even exists)
Thanks
Trevor

leave well alone. The stat has a disc on the back, a valve that opens and closes the warm up bypass.

Zetecs like to run hot. Any lower than 90 accelerates engine wear dramatically.

The fan on my 2.0 zetec kicks in at 105 degrees and switches off
at 93 degrees.
100 degrees is fine,so leave it well alone.Zetec's need to be hot.

Thanks guys,I've put the original stat back in,
I guess it's a case of if it's not broken don't fix it.

Geee... People on Blatchat maintain that 70C is the ideal sat for an Old Zetec.. but what could they possibly know?

105 seems very high to switch the fan in. Mine comes in at 97 and switches of at 93.

70 is way too low and will wear the engine
out in no time.
105 is fine for a zetec given that the oil temp should sit at
100 deg.Anywhere around that temp is fine.
Zetecs like to run hot.
