Any ideas on value of mk 1 Escort
Hi Guys
I currently have my BEC advertised for sale and have been offered this Escort for an exchange, to be honest its not really my thing and have never
gone that far back as far as old school cars go.
I have no idea what the market or value of these things go for now a days other than it seems the older they are the more expensive they are!!!!
Has anyone got any ideas of the market / value for these now. I don't want to get ripped off and I don't want to take the pi$$ out of the
guy neither.
The description of the car is as follows
1970 1300 base fitted with a 2.0 pinto from a sierra so is the stronger 205
injecton block, piper 285 cam, twin weber carb with ramair filters and 39mm
trumpets, facet competition fuel fump with filter king regulator,5 speed p100
diesel gearbox with quickshift fitted,rs2000 prop, group 4 steering
knuckle, lowered 2" all round, full janspeed exhaust with heat wrapped
manifold, electric cooling fan,mk2 escort front suspension legs with disc
brakes,0.825 master cylinder
Any ideas would be appreciated

One thing is for sure, its value will go up faster than a 7. I like that a lot

I do agree with the others, that is sure a nice clean old Escort.
BUT, one word of warning; the four doors are never worth as much as the two door examples.

Speak to YODI as he has a replica MK1 Mexico for sale and he says a minimum of £6500 for his. He has several escorts so he should have a realistic
idea of prices.

It does look like a nice car, with what looks like a lot of time and thought spent on it to get it into its present condition.
Fraid I would not know where to start with a car like that so it would be either a gift for the father ( not going to happen as I need the funds to
replace my kit. ) or straight onto Ebay or the likes as a sell on.

Looks very good indeed, only thing I would do with it is convert it to a dual circuit amaster cylinder + servo.
The condition of the vertical seams in the engine bay looks good. One of things that has a major effect on value of 1960s & 1970s cars is the
condition of the vertical seam between the inner front wings and the bulkhead, any rust or fakery in this area is very bad news because it is
expensive to put right.

Four door Mark 2's are becoming more popular than the 2 door ones now as, apparently, the shell flexes more and handles better. Not my words but
ones I heard in a dark lane one night :-)
