AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH

Just been changing the wiper blades on the tintop - as I was doing the second one the arm snapped down hit the screen and cracked it......

I only recently changed the insurance to TPFT

Easy done! I've dropped a few over the years but only had one screen crack on a customers "pride and joy" Capri. I replaced the screen and he was happy. The screen was already de-laminating in one corner so it ended up better than before but it's not a phone caal I want to have to make again. I try to put a rag on the screen whenever practical now.

I did not think it would be the Alfa after re reading you had put the car on TPFT

How long is the crack ? some times they can be drilled then resin filled

My mate runs a car spares shop, they have had to stop fitting wipers for customers because of this reason.
Apparently, because manufacturers have cut down the windscreen thickness to save weight, the slightest tap on the edge of the screen results in it cracking.

I lobbed my phone onto the flat part of the dash on the passenger side once, it bounced off the window and caused a big crack.

Be thankful it's not a heated windscreen!

Bummer!

I was sorting out the wipers on SWMBOs car recently and didn't realise how far the screen extended under the plastic mouldings. Trying to prise the wiper arm off with a large screwdriver and heard the fateful crack So far the crack has migrated from bottom left corner by about 6" although it seems to have stopped for the time being.

Must get onto it really and get it replaced

My niece and her husband down graded their good car to TPFT so they could get a second car as they both started working in oposite directions. The very next day as he was driving to work (in the good car), he hit a Deer on his way to work through the New Forrest.

Sh!t Happens.

Update:

I managed to get it replaced for £168 which I thought was quite good.

I suppose I should get windscreen cover added to the insurance now - talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted

Ive done that! Cleaning a freshly restored Saph cossy, just finished with the leather chamois and flicked the arm down forgeting that the blades had yet to be put on. WACK!!!!!! My mate was not impressed, at all! I did say sorry many many times. Thankfully though i think i only chipped the screen from memory!
