HTC Wildfire S or Samsung Galaxy S2?

Been offered both of these phones as upgrades by Orange - but not sure which to go for.

Never having had a smartphone before I'm a bit clueless when it comes to this sort of stuff.

have read a couple of online reviews of the two but can't really draw much of a conclusion from them, does anyone have any real world experience of either or both of these phones?

All I'm after really is decent internet access, wi-fi, GPS, camera and the ability to make a phone call.

Oh and a really cool carbon fibre case lol.

Thanks in advance

Go to a local phone shop and have a look, they are physically quite different.

One is a mid-range phone, the other high-end.

You could get the S2 for free, sell it and buy 2 x Wildfire S's ...

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a 4.3 screen --- if you want to use it for internet & GPS that makes a big difference it also has a better camera.
You can also use a smart phone to read OBD diagnostics on modern tintops --- the extra screen area is handy for that.

I have the S2 after being a blackberry man for 3 years, first thing you think is "bugger its big!" but its brilliant for media, the sat nav, browsing websites, etc.

Generally a very fast phone, doesnt freeze and lock up, easy to use, and beautiful.

Only downsides ive come across are the screen is vunerable to scratching, but screen protectors are cheap off fleabay. and you cant use a tight fitting case as it puts pressure on the speaker which causes an echo when on phone calls.

Apart from that i would recommend it to anyone.

Hope it helps

These people have great in-house and 'Joe Bloggs' user reviews.

I've always found them very useful, but I'm no phone geek/whizz.

Wildfire isnt much cop - i have one as a work phone and very slow.

I also have the HTC Sensation which is amazing. I believe the S2 is equally as good as well.
