Scrap car values ?

Just done an online quote for SWMBOs Seat Ibiza for scrap value.

It needs £300 spent on it between repairs, MOT costs, tax etc to be road legal again, so not really viable.
A mate is offering us a similar age Polo all ready to go, taxed Mot'd for a few quid more, so we're going to go with that/

Been offered £155 collected for the Ibiza, that's via caretakeback.com.

Is that on the money for something that size ?

Before anyone asks about the Ibiza, it needs.

Clutch - mega heavy pedal.
Clutch cable - see above.
Pedal box - also see above.
Two front road springs.
Battery.
MOT
Tax.

As I said above, about £300 all told if you DIY.

So, £155 ok for scrap value ?

It's a 2000 W, but again, see above for list of grief.
She's had it ten years, and it's had to lie here on the driveway 6 months to allo her to 'let go'.

The week before christmas I was quoted £170 for anything that I could drive through the gate or £140 a ton if it was in bits or stripped, Hope that helps.

I weighed in a volvo 960 estate a couple of months ago. Without engine and gearbox got £165. Local breakers around here give a flat rate of £115 for any car so £155 sounds good to me

I got £175 for my wife's Daewoo Matiz earlier this year - would have been £200 if it had been a bigger car. that was also an uneconomic repair job, but it was driven to the scrappie.

Co-incidentally, another SEAT Ibiza - my son owns, but needs some work (P registration) Just got it valued by these folk and in blackpool (my address) they offer £116 - and at my sons address (llandudno) the same site quotes £69 !!

Hence, I would say that £155 sounds pretty good! (until the police turn up at your door claiming "YOUR" car was used in a ram - raid a couple of days later - be sure they give you a cert or whatever it is these days - anyone know?)
