R1 Breather Mod quick question...

...well I hope it's a quick question anyway!

I have carried out the breather mod as detailed elsewhere, but I am wondering if I need to put anything on top of the old reed valve plate, under the cover, like gauze perhaps? Or am I ok to just put the the covers back on and connect to the catch tank (when I have one, when I have the car to put it in!)

I didn't on mine, just let it vent to a catch tank.

I folded some fine stainless mesh to fit in the "baskets" under the plate for any oil mist to condense on and drain back. Never get anything other than a few cc's of oily water (condensation) in the bottle if doing a lot of short runs. Nothing at all on track or a long run.
