splitting a modern morocycle type crank shaft
off topic slightly but....
my dad uses a yamaha two stroke engine for fishing out at sea and the big-end shell has failed on it..
so he is looking for someone local to him ( Northumberland ) that can split a crank shaft, replace the bearings, then put back together. He would be
supplying the parts

Has it really got shell bearings?
Two strokes normally have roller bearing big ends. It's a fairly precision job as the crank has to be pressed back together absolutely straight
which involves much use of V blocks, DTI and a copper hammer.
Stan Stephens is the god of two strokes and offer a crank rebuilding service.

I had 2 cranks rebuilt by stan stepens 10-15 years ago. From memory it was a case of put it the post with 50 quid on monday and it returned by courier
on fri.

Armstrongs on Westgate hill in Newcastle did a couple of jetski cranks for me about 7-8 years ago . You'll probably need a new crank pin as well
as a bearing. Did a few two stroke bike cranks myself years ago when I had access to decent presses.
