It's all gone a bit crunchy at the rear end

A fairly impressive grinding noise coming from behind me whilst coming back home from a blat. Not had a look at it yet but either wheel bearing utterly shot, or CV joint (no knocking though) or my very second hand LSD. Suspect the latter as the magnetic plug had a decent amount of swarf on it last time I checked levels. I have a spare open diff so guess what I'll be doing next Sat morning!

Check the propshaft coupling bolts for tightness first.

Thanks BT - I'll start at the wheels and work in towards the diff - it all needs a spring clean anyway...

Quick update - Diff, prop, half shafts, cv joints and wheel bearing all fine. Was the offside caliper a bit jammed up so it had trashed the inner pad and cooked itself up a bit. Ordered new pads in so will be back on the road for Stoneleigh
