Ive flown Light Aircraft, Hang Gliders, Microlights and about to start Paramotoring and theres no way I'd do something like that, far too
dangerous.

Absolutely mad. 2 things surprise me about that vid;
1. How they got up there in the first place?
2. How long they must have had to wait to get a good still wind day anywhere in the UK, let alone Southampton.
I have a funny feeling the site operator could get into a huge load of trouble if the wrong (or right i suppose) people see that video. The security
team should be kicked out as a minimum.

Until 3 years ago I used to climb tower cranes all over the UK to carry out thorough examinations under Lifting Operation Regs. (LOLER)
The guy is an absolute nutcase, no doubt in that. I obviously used to strap myself on with a full climbing harness and still poo myself on some
canary wharf cranes.
As for the guy getting up there, at the beginning of the video you can see him climbing over the base hoarding, which would surround the crane and
have a locked door. If nutters like this want to get up there,. Then they will. In some areas they also install an anti climbing device about 15ft
up, like a frame around the outside of the tower . The HSE have quite a strict policy, and the site operator must ensure the access to the crane is
restricted to authorised persons, but if they really want to get up there, they will!
Had a few fathers for justice type climbers dressed as superman protesting on top of cranes over the years. Few jumpers too (not woll ones either!)
Worst bit is youtube then get full of videos of folk copying them like the craze of teens (mostly boys) thinking they can do a somersault or jump
between buildings only to plant their face into concrete
