IVA Fog Light

I failed IVA today on the fog light. It is a Wipac 95mm E marked one. Landrover 90 / defender style.

It failed because it wasn't marked with an F or B.

So far I have only found and LED one from CBS £42 inc VAT plus postage so that would be £49! or a nasty square bolt on under bumper style one £8.40 + postage.

The note in the manual refers to Note 2: evidence that the lamp gives suitable intensity has been provided.

Looking at it and seeing that it is very bright doesn't seem to cut it.

HELP!

Summary of Rear Fog requirements (Sec 28):

Min 1, Max 2 (An optional rear fog lamp must form a matched pair with the obligatory lamp.)
One must be on centreline OR on offside (drivers).
Min Seperation from stop light, 100mm
Max Height 1000mm
Min Height 250mm
Fitted so that the reflector is facing squarely to the rear
All rear fog lamps must display an “e” or “E” mark with a “B” or “F”
The rear fog lamp(s) must only illuminate when dipped beam, main beam or front fog lamps are lit (See Note 3) (Note 3: front fog lamps may be illuminated with the side lamps only.)

There is also a new ruling in the latest revision that states that the light must be automatically switch off after the ignition has been switched off and only be switched back on when the switch is pressed again.

Pretty sure I recall looking at this one in Eurocar parts and it had an 'F',

The general consensus seems to be it only needs to go off and not come back on if they come on with sidelights

That's correct

My tester made sure the fog light didn't come on with side lights only dipped beam. He checked at least twice!

Mine failed on this , bolted a cheapie on a bracket from rear chassis so as not to damage rear bodywork and put and plastic blank over where your other fog was fitted .
Some stuff is just crazy and make sure you u trim the bracket if you go that route.

Always good to check - I got sent a brake light instead, which looked identical except for the F or B marking. Would have been an annoying fail!
