Kicked in the balls! HELP!

So I got my early narrow bodied westie chassis from eBay for cheap. I have started buying bits and bobs and am just planning the final bits I need too source but I have just had a massive kick in the balls.
Westfields have one piece wrap around body for the rear and sides - £739.46 + £175 for fitting kit
Westfield wheel arches - £271 each
Westfield nose cone - £276.55
Westfield scuttle - £ probably too much
Westfield bonnet - £333.22

How can I get round these outrageous prices? I think the biggest problem will be the wrap around one piece issue. On the westie chassis' there is no rear support for the top of the rear panel to hang from.
Will locost panels fit? Or would they require loads of work too fit?
I an see me making everything out of mdf frames and fibreglass !

You could pick up a second hand set, and tart them up as needed. Should be much easier on the wallet!

PM 'the king of bling' on here as he's got a Narrow body bonnet sitting in his garage
and its Carbon wrapped

iirc Westfield can only do these panels as a special order and they will be pricey and the lead times may be a bit long aswell ?

I would either look at panelling the sides in ally and modifying a GRP rear piece to fit, or weld on the body support tubes in the rear bay and make the rear panel in ally as well. For the nose and scuttle, try to source anything second hand and modify to suit. The bonnet is easily made in ally. And wings shouldn't be too difficuilt to source second hand.

It all depends on how much you like to build things.

I bought a narrow scuttle from these guys on the Suffolk/norfolk boarder earlier in the year. Although it was tatty and some bit had been modified they did also have the rest of the bodywork which was for sale.

Personally I'd hire a van and get them myself. GRP has a habit of getting smashed by couriers. Currently it's a very good price though.

PS - Neil (the seller) is a good spud. You'll not go wrong there.

They should fit, the narrow body was a copy of the original Locost wasn't it ?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
