New Speed sensor

Hi Guys,
Help required.
I am about to replace the electro/manetic sensor that operates the speedo.
My question is that when I connect the new sensor will it reactivate the original mileage shown on the speedo or will the speedo revert to zero.
Thanks for any advice.
Regards
Eddie

It's got nowt to do with the speedos mileage. The sensor just tells it what speed your doing. It's the speedo unit itself that retains the mileage
