Opel expert?
Just bought a Zaffy and already have problems!! I live in France so it is a left hooker Opel, Elegance Model with a 2.0 DTi engine. Drove it 3 days
and the gremlins started... ...water in drivers footwell. Not the radiator but the O rings. Changed all 4 of the little buggers and now OK.
Also I needed a towbar so fitted it. Kit came with a trailer indicator repeater bulb to fit on steering column. Instructions SEEMED complete but it
was a tad vague on where to connect the 2 wires for the LED repeater. Clipped one onto the green white wire (pin 23) on black connector block in
fusebox. Then the other half of the wire to a live. Chose a red wire that was quite thin and on the same bunch of wires...
Since then it looks like Blackpool Alluminations with 2 central warning lights flashing alternatively on dash speedo. it seems to have low voltage to
the dash and guages seem to go into check mode with a few sounds coming from behind dash (probably self checks on motors etc). Radio works on I and
II ignition clicks but not on III. The central locking has stopped working too and can't lock any door on the car as each time I lock it with
the key in the door it unlocks itself!!! When I turn the key to start it, it either turns engine over slowly or not at all. Late now but going to
hook up another good battery to see if it is just a battery fault but I have that horrid gut feeling it is something I have done!!!
Anyone have any clues what I can do/check to rectify this problem? Do you think it could be the ignition switch?
Thanks so SO much in advance

When you fitted the towbar electrics did you use a 7 way relay??
The Zafira probably has can-bus electrics which means you cant just plug a towbar electrics into the system.
It'll make it crazy if it doesn't fry the system!

Thanks Ben
As far as I know the Can-bus system is on after 2003 and mine is 2001 (not stated in OP) so am I still supposed to fit this 7-way relay. Everything
was OK after checking electrics as car started. Only when I fitted the LED repeater did I get problems. Is it possible it is something else....
....either switch or immobiliser or is that wishful thinking?
Would immobiliser give the following symptoms...

Thanks for ANY comments on ideas...

First thing would be to disconnect that flasher system and see if its that. Sounds like you've wired it wrong

First thing I'd do would be try it without the LED wired in.
You may find that the indiator wiring senses the extra load and operates a towing repeater in the dash automatically. My Mazda does.

First thing I did do. Happy to drive without repeater on dash. Only began installation because it didn't do what the mazda does!!! Wish I
hadn't bothered now...
